First time Van Alstyne girls basketball coach Tyler Dyer is looking forward to this upcoming season, riding the momentum of last year ‘s season— winning, 21-12 overall record, and going 5-7 in district play. Dyer will be inheriting a young team who lost three seniors after last season and will be playing without a senior presence on the court.

“There is a bit of a learning curve that is going on right now, but the kids are very coachable,” Dyer said of his new team. “I feel confident that we are going to make great improvements from the beginning of the year through the end.”

The Lady Panthers have shown coach Dyer an aggressiveness and competitiveness that has filled him with a confidence in this team. With varsity returners — sophomore Alexia Smith, junior Maegan Thomas, junior Avery Duncan, junior BreAnna McCaskill, junior Harley Butler and junior Riley Reese — Coach Dyer and the Lady Panthers are excited to tip off another successful season.

The season kicks off on Tuesday, Nov. 7 at 6:45 p.m. in Gunter against the Tigers.
