The Van Alstyne cross-country team competed in the Lovejoy Invitational Meet at Myers Park in McKinney on September 24.

The boys’ team, paced by senior Jacob Taylor, finished third in a very talented field. Taylor ran the 5-K in 18:05.

Hannah Taylor covered that distance with a time of 21:41, good enough for eighth place among the Division II girls.

The team will participate in the Commerce Invitational on Saturday at Commerce High School.

The Howe cross-country teams traveled to Trenton on Sept. 24 and Bethany Masters continued her impressive season with a second place finish.

Brandon Wall, after quarterbacking the Bulldog football team to a win over Caddo Mills, finished seventh to lead the boys’ team to a fourth place finish.
