After losing the District 10-3A opener last week to Commerce the Lady Bulldogs bounced back with a road win at Lone Oak.
That win evened the Howe record at 2-2 in league play and it was a crucial win for playoff hopes.
The first two sets went down to the wire and the teams split as five points separated the two schools.
Howe won the opening set, 25-21, but the Lady Buffs came back to grab the second set in a thrilling, 26-24 overtime win.
Lone Oak took the lead in the match by shutting down the Lady Bulldogs in the third set, 25-14.
Howe was in control for the remainder of the contest, winning the fourth set, 25-13 to tie the match.
In the tiebreaking fifth set, Howe prevailed 15-8.
The Lady Bulldogs continue the road trip with a September 20 match in Farmersville and the Lady Farmers will be coming off their first district loss of the season.
