Van Alstyne Cross Country

The Van Alstyne cross country teams made impressive showings at the Gerald Richey Invitational meet held at Lynn Creek Park in Grand Prairie on Sept. 10. This will be the site of the Region II Cross Country Championships on Oct. 29.

Van Alstyne coach Rachel Sevarino was pleased with her team's performance.

“We beat out the teams from our district which competed, and the boys finished seventh out of 17 teams,” she said.

The varsity girls ran 3200 meters and every runner improved on their season-best at that distance, none more impressively than Gracie Tagert.

At the Marcus meet, Tagert had a time of 19:03 and in Grand Prairie she ran a 16:59.
