Jeff Burns died Tuesday, December 1, 2020, at his home in Van Alstyne, Texas. His family announced the death. Mr. Burns was born Jeffery Lee Burns on January 13, 1952 in Texas, to his mother Betty J. Nicholson. He graduated from Van Alstyne High School in 1970.
Mr. Burns was a hard worker his entire life and worked in the construction and concrete industry. He is credited to assisting with the construction of many buildings that are now seen on the Dallas skyline. Mr. Burns, who preferred to be called Jeffro, had a huge personality. He had a passion to make people laugh and smile, especially children. His constant dad jokes, funny faces, and pranks were a daily activity for him. Jeffro found so much joy in making people laugh.
Mr. Burns is survived by his three children, Tammie, Ricky, and Joshua; grandchildren Morgan Brown, Christopher Bell, Allison Bell, David Rivera, Chase Lally, and Cassidy Burns; great grandchildren Carson, Landyn, Gracelyn, Hadley, and Maddison; and his siblings Jack, Jim, Sue, and Terry. He is proceeded in death by his mother and two grandchildren, Benny and Dakota.
A memorial service will be hosted on December 12th at 11:00 AM at Scoggins Funeral Home, located at 637 West Van Alstyne Pkwy in Van Alstyne. In lieu of flowers, the family ask that donations be made to the Toys for Tots, Cook Children’s, or any other child charity origination.
