Paul Leach Denton, age 74, was born on Sept. 25, 1945, in Dallas, Texas. He passed away Sept. 10, 2020 in McKinney, Texas. He was the son of W.A. and Leafy Denton. Paul grew up in Van Alstyne, Texas, participating in sports, FFA and other school activities. He was a graduate of Van Alstyne High School and East Texas State University (Texas A&M, Commerce). He served his country in the U.S. Army Reserve. He retired from Kaiser Aluminum, Sherman, with 43 years of service.
Paul married Gwen Lay, his high school sweetheart, and had one son, Danny. However, the Dentons have big hearts and their family grew to five with the addition of their sons, Brian and Chris.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by their sons, daughters-in-law Tisha, Julie and Kris. He also leaves behind seven grandchildren - Caine, Jacob, Hannah, Matthew, Katie, Reilly and Gracie; one sister, Diane Wall; and two nephews.
Paul dedicated his life to the Lord and was a member of Elmont Baptist Church. Although our hearts are heavy, we know he is no longer in pain.
The family wishes to thank all of those who loved Paul and knew him. A come-and-go visitation was held from 1-5 p.m. Sept. 12 at Scoggins Funeral Home, followed by a service at Van Alstyne Cemetery at 2:30 on Sept. 13.
