The Van Alstyne High School Panther Band will host it inaugural Pancake Breakfast fundraiser from 9 a.m. to noon Feb. 1 at Van Alstyne Middle School, 1314 N. Waco St.

Tickets are $10 for adults and $7 for children and are available for advance purchase at also will be sold at the door on the day of the day of the event, which will feature live performances by the Panther Band, ensembles, high school jazz band and seventh- and eighth-grade bands.

A silent auction will also be held, for which item and monetary donations will be accepted through Jan. 30.

This year, the band hopes to raise up to $15,000. Funds will be use to purchase news instruments for both the middle and high school band programs.

The pankcake breakfast event replaces the popular annual spaghetti dinner that the band hosted for several years.

Band Director Tim Fulton said the event will help kick off “an exciting new decade of growth for the band, so we thought this would be a great time to refresh our annual fundraiser. We’ve always been grateful to the community and band parents for their support of our program, and look forward to hosting a new wonderful event that everyone will enjoy.”

Van Alstyne ISD will move into the 4A division for the 2020-2021 school year.

Fulton said the change will introduce students to a “new level of compeitition,” adding, “We know they are ready for the challenge and want to make sure they have the equipment and resources necessary to compete at the next level.”
