For area residents that are looking for something different to take part in this week. Here are five events that will allow individuals in the area to meet new people and learn about the area. Here are five events to start the month of April.


1. Winter concert


Van Alstyne High School will have its winter drumline concert this Friday. The evnet will be held at 7:15 p.m. at Van Alstyne High School. The name of this year’s show is “Stream.” The doors open at 6:45 p.m.


2. All you can eat


The Friends of the VAn Alstyne Public LIbrary will be hosting an all-you-can-eat breakfast at the Van Alstyne Community Center on Saturday. The event begins at 7 a.m. and for just $5 per person, you can enjoy a country breakfast with orange guice and coffee. The proceeds will benefit the library.


3. Local talent


This week El Patio Escondido Mexican Restaurant in Van Alstyne will be hosting a couple of concerts for site patrons. On Saturday Bryan Adam Joyner will be performing at 6:30 p.m. Austin Michael Robinson will be performing at 6:30 p.m. Monday at the restaurant.


4. History tour


The city of McKinney will be offering free walking tours on Monday. There will be morning and afternoon tours on Monday. The city’s preservation officer Guy Giersch will be giving the tours. Bring bottled water. Snacks will be provided. All tours begin at the Visitors Center.


5. Outdoor concerts


Patrons who visit Barn Hill Vineyards in Anna on Saturday will get to hear the tunes of Journey, Genesis, Phil Collins and others at a special wine tasting. The event will include a band as well as on site food trucks. The event begins at 6:30 p.m. and tickets can be purchased at http://www.Eventbrite.com.
