Hunter Simco, daughter of Keith and Diana Simco of Van Alstyne, is serving as a Texas Shorthorn Lassie Princess for the 2016-17 year. The announcement was made during the annual meeting of the Texas shorthorn Lassies, ladies auxiliary of the Texas Shorthorn Cattle Breeders Association.
Simco is a junior at Gunter High school. An FFA member, she is serving as chapter vice president and is on the livestock judging team. Simco is a high school cheerleader and on the golf team. A member of the Texas and American Junior Shorthorn Association, she exhibited the first place Junior Yearling Female at the 2016 National Junior Shorthorn show in St. Paul Minnesota over the summer.
Simco will be working with Texas Shorthorn Lassie Queen Jordan Lewis, Trenton; and Princesses Brittney Basham, Commerce, Rae Gresso, Sugarland and Megan Ziegenhagen, Rice, in presenting awards at livestock shows. The girls serve as an ambassador for the red, white or roan English breed of beef cattle. They are sponsored by the Texas Shorthorn Lassies.
