The Van Alstyne Education Foundation (VAEF) has hired an executive director. Dacia McBryde, a 2007 graduate of Van Alstyne High School, will be working with VAEF to increase scholarship funding for students, as well as increase exposure and organization of the Foundation, which has previously been run completely on a volunteer basis.

McBryde will also serve as a community and career liaison with Van Alstyne Independent School District. She will be visiting all VAISD campuses to bring more exposure to the academic achievements happening in the district. This will include meeting with students, beginning in the eighth grade in order to focus on college readiness. McBryde graduated from the University of Arkansas with a Bachelor’s degree in 2011 and a Master’s degree in 2013. She previously worked as an assistant director at the University of Arkansas, recruiting Texas students to attend the university and helping potential students with admissions and scholarships. McBryde has more than four years of experience working in higher education and said she is excited to be coming back to VAISD.
