Van Alstyne police responded to 13 incidents and logged 198 calls for service over the past seven-day reporting period.
On Aug. 11, officers made a stop for speeding on northbound Highway 75 at Farmington Rd. Suspicious, officers asked to search the driver’s car and were denied so a K-9 unit was called to the scene. Marijuana was found in the car, and 19-year-old Noah Sukolics, of Pattison, was arrested for possession of marijuana less than two ounces, a Class B misdemeanor.
On Aug. 13, police answered a reckless driver call on northbound Highway 75 near FM 121 at approximately 9:15 p.m. Officers pulled over 32-year-old Ashley Day, of McKinney, and issued a field sobriety test which she failed. Day was arrested for DWI and possession of marijuana less than two ounces after two bags of marijuana were found in her car. Both charges are Class B misdemeanors.
VAPD officers responded to another reckless driver call on Aug. 15, this one at approximately 12:30 a.m. on northbound Highway 75 at FM 121. The driver, 29-year-old Lian Bik, of Sherman, subsequently failed a field sobriety test and was arrested for driving while intoxicated. He was transported to a medical facility for a blood draw and while there attempted to resist the procedure and had to be restrained. An additional charge of resisting arrest was added following the event.
