In their next-to-last outing of the season, the Howard Payne Lady Jackets earned their third win in five matches, outlasting Texas Lutheran in five sets Tuesday night at the Brownwood Coliseum.

Howard Payne secured a 22-25, 25-19, 25-19, 20-25, 15-13 to improve to 5-21 on the season, while Texas Lutheran slipped to 8-19.

Mya Ross led the Lady Jacket attack with 16 kills trailed by 13 from Zhartaezia Bradley, eight from Kailey Doering, six from Kylie Metcalf, five from McKenna Walker and one each from Christian Wilson and Amaya Marshall.

Walker chalked up 41 assists while Ross added two and Metcalf, Wilson and Marshall were each credited with one.

Kylee Shirley served four aces followed by two from Doering and one each from Ross, Walker and Marshall.

Defensively, Shirley finished with 25 digs trailed by 22 from Ross, 17 from Marshall, 11 from Walker, eight from Wilson, four each from Doering and Bradley and one from Metcalf.

Bradley tallied nine blocks, Marshall notched four, Ross tallied three, Metcalf had two and Doering and Madeleine Kelly logged one each.

For Texas Lutheran, Madison Weisinger tallied 10 kills, Kelly Jurden contributed 38 assists and three aces, Jaci Chambers finished with 31 digs and Peyton Sulak collected three blocks.

The Lady Jackets close out their 2018 campaign at 6 p.m. Tuesday at home against the University of the Southwest.
