WHITEWRIGHT — The Bulldogs couldn’t hold onto an early lead in their District 10-3A loss to Whitewright on Tuesday, April 10, falling 10-3.
The Tigers put up two runs in the bottom of the first. Two singles and a walk set up an RBI opportunity for Whitewright, and the Tigers capitalized with a two RBI single into right field.
Howe responded in the top of the second after two singles by Howe’s Cirby Coheley came through with a rocket into center field that was good for an RBI double. Kyler Anderson followed it up with a two RBI double. Howe took the lead, 3-2.
Whitewright tied it up in the bottom of the second and took the lead in the bottom of the fourth after the Bulldogs managed a double play. A walk and an error set up the RBI for Whitewright, and they came through with a two RBI double. The Tigers reclaimed the lead, 5-3.
The Tigers maintained their lead throughout out the remainder of the game, picking up four runs in the bottom of the fifth after a slew of Bulldog errors. Whitewright added one more run to their lead in the bottom of the sixth.
Anderson had a good night going 2-3 with two RBIs, while Coheley went 1-3 with an RBI.
The Bulldogs will hope to bounce back against Van Alstyne on Tuesday, April 17.
