VAN ALSTYNE — The Van Alstyne track teams posted two top-four finishes, including a tie for runner-up by the boys squad, at the Panther Relays on Thursday, March 8.
Samuel Tormos won the 400 meter dash with a time of 51.80 seconds while Cam Montgomery was third with a time of 52.77 seconds.
Dylan Porter won the 110 hurdles with a time of 16.76 seconds and George Hall was fourth in 16.92 seconds.
Hall then turned around and won the 300 hurdles with a time of 41.82 seconds and Porter placed third in 44.61 seconds. Hall captured the high jump title as well, taking a tie-breaker over Melissa’s Josh Wood at six feet, two inches.
The 1,600 relay of Tormos, Montgomery, Justin Keathly and Jake Carroll won with a time of 3:34.12.
Rhett Gallagher won the long jump with a leap of 20 feet, six inches — winning by a single inch. He was also fifth in the triple jump at 39 feet, five inches. In the 100 meter dash, Gallagher was sixth with a time of 12.13 seconds and he was seventh in the 200 meter dash at 24.84 seconds.
Bryce Sevarino was the runner-up in the 3,200 in 10:28.95 and placed fourth in the 1,600 meter run with a time of 4:51.37.
Zane Madison was the runner-up in the shot put with a toss of 41 feet, 11 inches.
The 400 relay of Ty Cosper, Gallagher, Austin Moore and Carroll was sixth in 46.47 seconds.
The 800 relay of Nathan Cuthbertson, Cosper, Carroll and Keathly was sixth at 1:39.30.
Moore also was fourth in the pole vault at 10 feet.
On the girls side, Van Alstyne placed fourth with 72 points behind Leonard, Sunnyvale and Anna.
Sydney Ingram won the 100 meter hurdles with a time of 16.95 seconds and Sara Fernandez won the 300 meter hurdles in 49.43 seconds.
Ingram also placed third in the long jump, clearing 15 feet, 10 inches and was seventh in the high jump, clearing five feet.
Fernandez was also third in the pole vault, clearing eight feet.
Riley Reese was the runner-up in the shot put with a throw of 31 feet, 10 inches. Alyssa Allen was seventh at 27 feet, nine and a half inches.
In the 100 meter dash, Alyssa Taylor was ninth with a time of 14.23 seconds.
In the 200 meter dash, Torin Riddick was 11th with a time of 30 seconds.
In the 400 meter dash, G’Daya Hall was fourth in 1:04.90 and Emma Morgan was seventh with a time of 1:07.52.
Morgan also finished third in the 800 meter run with a time of 2:32.59. Kate Carson was sixth with a time of 2:36.67.
In the 3,200 meter run, Jenna Leinart was fourth with a time of 13:33.10.
The 1,600 relay of Fernandez, Carson, Hall and Morgan was third with a time of 4:24.48.
The 800 relay of Fernandez, Ingram, Carson and Hall was fifth in 1:52.27.
The 400 relay of Faith Griffin, Ingram, Riddick and Taylor placed sixth with a time of 53.28 seconds.
