Van Alstyne Cheer recently held it’s first “Royal Ball” or Cheer banquet. The event was a time to honor and recognize the Middle School and High School Cheerleaders. The 8th Grade A team is 16-2 on the year with one game remaining against Commerce on Monday night. They won the Cooke County Shootout and placed second in the Van Alstyne Middle School Tournament, falling short to Paris North Lamar in the championship game. They are also district champions for the second consecutive year. The 7th Grade A team is a perfect 18-0 on the year with one game remaining against Commerce on Monday night. They are Cooke County Shootout champions as well as the Van Alstyne Middle School Tournament Champions. They are also district champions. The Van Alstyne 7th Grade 8 Team recently completed an undefeated 18-0 season. In that stretch they won two tournament championships and the District Title. The team averaged 47 points a game and scored a whopping 856 points on the season while allow only 174 points.
