HOWE — The Howe boys nudged out district opponent Whitewright, 60-54, at home on Tuesday, Jan 2.


The Bulldogs jumped out early with a 21 point run in the first quarter, while limiting the Tigers to only a 9 point gain. Ty Harvey would score six in the quarter, while Noah Campbell dropped five. This gave Howe a 21-9 advantage going into the second.


Howe maintained their lead in the second quarter, keeping Whitewright at bay with only a 13 point gain. The Bulldogs would ramble off 16 points of their own and end the first half in the lead, 37-22.


The Tigers would surge back in the third, dropping 23 total points while the Bulldogs could only scrape together 12 of their own. This allowed Whitewright to sneak back into the game and cut the bulldog lead down to only, 49-45, headed into the final quarter.


The Bulldog defensive play turned back on in the fourth as they held down the Tiger offense to only a 9 point gain, letting Howe keep the lead until the final buzzer.


Campbell ended the game with 14 total points for the Bulldogs, 9 of which came from the 3.


Harvey finished his night with 15 points, hitting 6 out of 10 free throws.


The Bulldogs hope to keep up a winningrecord in an away district game against Farmersville on Friday, Jan. 5.
