VAN ALSTYNE — The Panthers dropped a close non conference match up against the Sherman Bearcats, 79-69, at home in non-conference play on Tuesday, Nov. 21.
With strong performances by Samuel Tormos and Tyler Sperry, Van Alstyne made it a neck-and-neck ball game throughout the first half, with Sherman only holding a slight lead with a score of 39-37 going into the halftime. Sperry would knock down 21 total points and Tormos would have 17 total points by the end of the game.
But after the third quarter of play, it was a Sherman dominated game. Bearcat Jaylyn Cleamons was on fire, with 23 total points. Deludy Cemonte would follow suit with 19 points of his own as well as being a sharpshooter from 3 point line, banking four long shots.
The Panthers hope to shrug off this loss as they head to Melissa to face the Cardinals in a non-conference match up on Tuesday, Nov 28. Van Alstyne is now 1-1 for the young season.
