PILOT POINT — The Howe Bulldogs came out strong against the Pilot Point Bearcats with a first-quarter touchdown by Andrew Griffin and a two point conversion pass by Chase Harvey to Dylan Moreau that put the Bulldogs up early, but Howe faltered late in the game to drop the District 5-3A (I) ball game, 38-16, on Friday, Nov. 3 at Massey stadium.

It was a back and forth battle early as the Bearcats responded with their own first quarter score, a 4-yard run by Quincy Kemp with a two-point conversion pass to Jacob Pitts from Quincy Kemp that made it, 8-8. Chase Harvey would score another touchdown for Howe on a 1-yard run in the second quarter, while a complete pass in the end zone to Mason Riggs for the two points put the Bulldogs up 16-8.

The Bearcats took over from there, as Kemp responded with his own 5-yard rushing touchdown in the second, while a failed two-point conversion put Pilot Point one point out going into half-time, 16-15.

The Bulldog offense was stymied in the third-quarter getting held to no points while holding the Bearcats to a 30-yard field goal by Jamie Tavera from Pilot Point in the quarter.

Kemp would go on a tear in the fourth, rushing for two unanswered touchdowns and recovering a Howe fumble for a defensive touchdown. Kemp finished the game with 121 rushing yards on 12 carries and five touchdowns, getting 32 of the team’s final 38 points.

Howe Running Back Andrew Griffin finished the game with 102 yards on 27 carries and one touchdown. Chase Harvey had 26 rushing yards on 11 carries with his own rushing touchdown and two successful two-point conversion passes.

Howe will host their final game of the season against Callisburg on Friday, Nov. 10 at 7:30 p.m.
