VAN ALSTYNE — Alyssa Hill had 13 kills and 13 aces as Van Alstyne opened district play with a 25-14, 25-11, 25-23 victory against Lone Oak on Friday, Sept. 8.

Valerie Young added six kills and 10 digs, Lindi Boling collected 23 digs and Brittany O’Hanlon put down five aces for Van Alstyne (14-8, 1-0).

Van Alstyne then suffered a loss, 2-3, to Commerce in a home game on Friday, Sept. 12 held at Van Alstyne High School. The Lady Panthers put up a valiant fight, winning the first two sets before losing the last three to their district rivals.

The Friday Sept. 15 match will be against Farmesville at Farmersville High School, with the junior varsity team playing their match at 6 p.m. Next Friday’s match, held on Sept. 22, will be a home game against Leonard.

Additionally, on Saturday, Sept. 16 a Bonham JV Tournament is scheduled, while Sept. 19 will be a bye day for play.
