The Van Alstyne Lady Panther Varsity Basketball team will be playing in the Whitesboro summer league Mondays in July at Whitesboro High School beginning July 10 with games against against Whitewright and Whitesboro.


“I think we will compete pretty well with all those teams in the league,” varsity guard Tinsley Love said. “All the girls on the team are committed.”


The league is one of a few summer activities for the student athletes of Van Alstyne. Following the summer competitions the players will have the option to attend open gym four days a week in the mornings for the remainder of the summer.


“We have open gym,” Love said. “We go up there and shoot around.”


The Lady Panthers will take on district rivals Gainesville and Calvary on July 17. On July 20 the Lady Panthers will play Muenster and Sam Rayburn. The summer competition will conclude with games against Muenster and the Whitesboro JV team.
