Farmersville High School hosted the final track meet prior to the 2017 District 10-3A meet, and 18 boys and girls’ teams competed in the Farmersville Invitational.
It was a strong field that gathered in some of the best weather of the current season, and the Lady Panthers were on top of their game as they outscored Leonard, with the Simmons sisters, 104-100
Pottsboro with 75 points and Melissa, 74, also sent full teams to the event.
The Van Alstyne boys finished fourth in the 18-team field
First place finishes for the girls included Hannah Taylor, winning her fourth consecutive 3200-meter run, Sydney Ingram with a win in the 100-meter hurdles, and Emme Fernandez, who won her second, 300-meter hurdles title of the season.
Ingram had 30 points, Fernandez 17, and Alyssa Hill totaled 14 points, running on two relay teams and getting a fourth-place finish in the 100-meter dash.
Seniors Levi Jones and De’Angelo Alexander paced the boys’ team in its fourth place finish, each adding 14 points to the team total.
Alexander was second in the 110-hurdles, third in the 300-meter hurdles, and he finished fifth in the triple jump.
Jones finished second in the long jump and the 400-meter run. He also anchored a pair of point winning relay teams.
