Howe 9, Whitewright 4
The Howe Lady Bulldogs have locked up a postseason slot after a 9-4 win over Whitewright at home on April 11.
The Lady Bulldogs broke open a 2-2 game with a four-run fourth inning and added three more runs to lock up the win.
Junior Erin Blackburn had three hits in four trips to the dish and senior Emily Sanders was two-for-three for the night.
Senior Madisyn Hargrove scattered nine hits and struck out nine to get the win from the circle.
Junior Torrey Stubblefield walked to open the Howe fourth inning, and advanced to second on a single by senior Kayla Anderson.
Senior Dani Ross then reached on a Whitewright error to load the bases and Stubblefield scored on a passed ball.
Sanders slapped a double into left field, driving in Anderson and Ross, and Sanders scored on a double by Blackburn, giving the Lady Bulldogs a 6-2 lead.
Whitewright came back to score a pair of runs in the fifth, cutting the Howe lead to just two.
Hargrove walked to open the Howe fifth inning and moved to second on a passed ball.
Stubblefield drew her second walk of the contest and Anderson grounded out to drive in Hargrove and move Stubblefield to third. She scored on a sacrifice fly by junor Payton Griffin to put Howe up, 8-4.
Sanders tripled in the Howe sixth inning and a single by Blackburn scored Sanders with the Lady Bulldogs’ ninth run of the contest.
Howe will travel to Farmersville on April 14 and wrap up the regular season on April 18th, hosting Van Alstyne on senior night for the Lady Bulldogs.
