The Howe track program proved to be rude hosts as both teams, boys and girls, won the team titles at the Bulldog Relays on March 30.

With several schools opting to send performers to Austin for the Texas Relays, the field was limited to six boys and five girls’ teams.

Sophomore Bethany Masters and junior Erin Blackburn led a Lady Bulldog team that outpointed Whitewright, 158-131 for the team trophy.

Masters, with a first place finish in the 300-meter hurdles, added points with two second-place awards. She also ran on two winning relay teams.

Blackburn finished first in two events, the long jump and the 100-meter dash, and added points running the anchor leg on two of the relays.

Dawson McDonald scored 32 points in the Bulldogs’ 203 point effort on a really great day for track and field.

McDonald won the long jump and triple jump, finished second in the 110-meter hurdles and fourth in the 300-hurdles for his days work.

Brent Masters totaled 25 points with a win in the 100-yard dash.

This was the final tune up for the Howe track teams as they prepare for the District 10-3A meet which will be contested in Farmersville on April 12 and 13.
