After that heartbreaking loss in Leonard, the Lady Bulldogs were relentless at the plate on April 4, pounding out 17 hits in a 15-0, run-rule win over Commerce at the home park.
Senior Madisyn Hargrove pitched a gem, needing just 58 pitches on her way to the no-hitter. She recorded six strikeouts and the other six outs came on balls that never left the infield.
Junior Erin Blackburn had a triple and an inside the park home run, her third homer of the season.
Senior Kayla Anderson had her second home run of the season, going yard with a blast over the center field wall that ignited a nine run, third inning for the Lady Bulldogs.
After a scoreless first inning, Howe scored four runs in the second.
Junior Payton Griffin drew a one-out walk and moved to third on a single by senior Dani Ross.
Griffin scored the first Howe run on a sacrifice bunt by senior Kamryn Fulenchek.
Senior Emily Sanders tripled to bring home Ross and Sanders scored on Blackburns’ race around the bases after her deep shot to left field.
Howe sent 13 batters to the plate in the third inning, scored nine runs, and put the game on the cusp of an early finish.
After Anderson’s home run started the surge, a double by Griffin and singles by Ross and Fulenchek had jacked the Lady Bulldogs lead to 6-0.
With one out, Blackburn lashed a triple to the gap in right center, driving in two more Howe runs.
The runs kept coming as Hargrove, and Torrey Stubblefield reached, setting the table for Anderson who doubled to drive in two more runs.
After another Griffin hit, Ross had her third hit in three trips to boost the Lady Bulldog lead to 13-0.
A bases loaded single by Hargrove in the fourth ended the misery for the visitors, giving Howe the 15-0 win.
The Lady Bulldogs will take on the district leading Lone Oak Lady Buffaloes on April 7, in Lone Oak.
