Three District 10-3A teams were tied with 4-3 records going into Jan. 20 action.


Van Alstyne hosted Lone Oak in a battle of teams tied for third in the league, while Howe hosted Commerce.


Van Alstyne got buried into a 34-21 hole through the first three quarters of play at home and could not complete a fourth-quarter rally, losing 49-40.


The Lady Panther offense was stymied in the early going by the Lady Buffs as the visitors game plan was to bottle up senior standout, Madison Reno.


Reno, after scoring 21 points in Van Alstyne’s win over Commerce, was held to just six points against Lone Oak. She did have four assists and three steals for the Lady Panthers.


Senior guard Carly Ochoa scored 10 points, a season-high, sending in three, 3-pointers in the contest.


Sophomore post Maegan Thomas scored 11 points and collected six rebounds for the Lady Panthers.


Sophomore BreAnna McCaskill added six points, and six rebounds for Van Alstyne.


The Lady Panthers traveled to district-leading Whitewright on Jan. 24 before hosting Farmersville on Jan. 27.
