The All-Texomaland 2016 volleyball team was announced on Jan. 15 and four area players were picked for the select squad.
Van Alstyne senior Shelby Litzkow was named to the first team. The Lady Panther libero earned her third Defensive Player of the Year award from district 10-3A this past season. She was credited with more than 420 digs for the year and her leadership from the back line was key to the team’s success.
Van Alstyne seniors Peyton Welch and Sadie Ingram, along with Howe senior Emily Sanders, were honorable mention selections for the 2016 team.
Welch, an outside hitter, had 175 kills and dished out 140 assists in the 2016 season.
Ingram, who missed most of the non-district schedule due to an ankle injury, had 120 kills and 170 digs for the Lady Panthers.
Sanders, an outside hitter for the Lady Bulldogs, was the team leader in assists and second in the service game for Howe.
Her leadership helped the team to a double-digit win season this past year.
