The seventh grade Van Alstyne Middle School football team traveled to Commerce on Oct. 3 toting a 1-2 record. The Panthers returned to Van Alstyne with a 14-0 win over the Tigers, bringing their record to 2-2 heading into the bye week.

"The boys did a really outstanding job last Thursday at Commerce," said Coach Kenny Lamb. "I really thought the young student athletes met the goals we set about being better fundamentally. Charlie McCullough and Dawson Maxwell stood out as far as kids up front. Nathan Cuthbertson and Tyler Wilson also did an outstanding job. "It was a great team effort and big win!!

"In the White Team game, Sam Mosby did a great job along with Luke Fontenot. These kids are really improving each week."

The Panthers resume their season on Thursday, Oct. 17 against Sunnyvale at Panther Stadium. The teams will "Pink Out" in an effort to raise awareness of breast cancer. The public is welcome and urged to come out and support the Panthers that evening and wear pink.
