The body of 38-year-old Michael Quach, of Melissa, was recovered from Lake Lewisville on June 18 by Texas Parks and Wildlife Department dive crews which had been scouring the lake for days.

Quach was at the lake enjoying Father’s Day with his two children and wife when he jumped into the water to help a nephew who had encountered trouble. According to reports, the nephew got out of the lake but Quach disappeared underwater and did not re-surface.

Quach’s body was recovered in the morning hours of June 18 west of the Hidden Cove Marina. Choppy water and reduced visibility had impaired searchers in the days prior.

Reports indicated that they were on a boat southwest of Hidden Cove when the nephew, who was not considered a strong swimmer, jumped into the water to cool down. He was wearing a life jacket but the boat had begun to drift away when Quach attempted to rescue the boy.
