Fellow citizens,

I want to begin by thanking whoever mowed and trimmed the alleyways on Alley Court and adjoining Aztec Court. Everyone I asked (hoping to give someone credit) pointed to someone else. In the end, it appears that the work may have been done by the persons who maintain the grounds for the loft apartments above the hardware store, Van Alstyne Welcome Center and the Shabby Pig boutique. Anyway, Keep Van Alstyne Beautiful is certainly grateful. They try to do that cleanup a couple of times yearly and they were pleasantly surprised this past Saturday to see that it was all done! KVAB and the whole city thanks you.

There are many instances of civic minded, city beautification going on all the time here. Considering all of the flower pots at store fronts and all the beautifully kept yards, Van Alstyne is a pretty place to live.

Palladium, Stonehollow and D.R. Horton are all busy at their project sites. Stonehollow recently pulled six building permits, and so we should see houses going up near Thompson Street and Kelly Lane very soon. D. R. Horton is also preparing to widen the west end of Village Parkway so it will be four lanes, end to end. Palladium has stubbed-up much of their utility work and some batter-boards are going up.

We have a newly designed city web site. Our own Laura Dapkus has done a great job. Laura owns Sheep Boutique at 144 N. Main St. and she does web and print design there. The site is dressed up nicely and works very well.

I wish you all well.

Yours truly,

Mayor Larry Cooper
