BASTROP-- Glenn clubbed Cedar Creek 34-10 to improve to 3-0 in District 13-5A DII at Memorial Stadium on Friday.
The Grizzlies (4-2 overall, 3-0 in district) are fielding a varsity team for the first season and picked up their fourth straight win.
Glenn junior quarterback Drew McGuire had no problem picking apart the Cedar Creek secondary, completing 15-of-28 passes for 215 yards and two touchdowns.
The Grizzlies first touchdown came off a fake field goal in the first quarter. Holder Sam Martin hit Lee Pollock on a 14-yard pass and the Eagles (1-2, 2-4) were caught off guard on the back side.
McGuire connected with Jarvis Henderson on a 19-yard touchdown later in the quarter.
Glenn running back Clay Upton scored on a 2-yard run in the second quarter and also added a 1-yard run in the third quarter.
Cedar Creek’s only points in the first half came via a 35-yard field goal by Nataniel Salas with four seconds remaining in the half.
McGuire found Sam Martin for a 22-yard touchdown pass 11 seconds left in the third quarter.
Cedar Creek’s Ashton Figueroa, who replaced injured quarterback Hunter Hughston, scored on an 11-yard run with 11 seconds remaining in the fourth quarter.
Figueroa completed 2-of-12 passes for 29 yards but suffered two interceptions by Glenn’s Noah Holmes. Hughston left the game in the second quarter and completed 1-of-7 passes for 11 yards.
