MARBLE FALLS--When Marble Falls punted on its first possession of the game and pinned Brenham on its own 1-yard line, things were looking good for the Mustangs.

The Cubs promptly drove 99 yards in seven plays, however, and cruised to a 41-21 District 13-5A Division II win at Mustang Stadium.

Tyree Jackson capped the 99-yard drive with a 1-yard run en route to a 15-carry, 117-yard, two-touchdown performance for Brenham (3-3, 2-1 in district). The elusive Cub running back had runs of 16, 18 and 29 yards. Quarterback Garrison Weiss was an efficient 14-of-21 for 202 yards and three touchdowns for the Cubs. Yann Toussom caught five passes for 126 yards and a touchdown for Brenham.

Quarterback Andrew Stripling went 17-of-35 with two touchdowns and added a touchdown on the ground to lead Marble Falls. Cooper Wilson had 67 yards on 13 carries for Marble Falls.

After leading 27-7 at halftime, Brenham scored on its first two possessions of the third quarter to take a 41-7 lead over the Mustangs (2-4, 0-3). Marble Falls cut into the lead on a 22-yard touchdown pass from Stripling to Luke Nail. They added another touchdown on a 7-yard run by Stripling but an onside kick failed. After Brenham punted for just the third time of the game, the Cubs stopped Marble Falls on downs and ran out the clock.

Brenham scored a second quarter touchdown to take a 14-0 lead, but the Mustangs embarked on a long drive to pull within a touchdown on a 5-yard pass from Stripling to Josh Whitecotton. The Cubs added two more scores, a 20-yard touchdown run by Daylonn McCowan and a 22-yard touchdown pass from Weiss to Lonterrious McClain, before the end of the half.
