Van Alstyne High School Bass Fishing team started off the third year of competition with a 1st place win at the Lake Lewisville Tournament on Sept. 29.

The VA team won first place out of 32 schools in their division.

There were a total of 193 individual teams, from 32 different schools competing against each other. Each individual team consists of 2 students.

Van Alstyne had four teams finish in the top twenty. The team of Austin Cuthbertson and Randall Searls finished 2nd. Jake Carroll and Ryland Jennings finished 4th. Conner Loftice and Michael Burnside finished 9th. Luke Trotter and Chandler David finished 17th.

Austin Cuthbertson won big bass for the tournament with a fish weighing 7.49 lbs. Austin is pictured below with his teammate, Randall Searls.
