During the past month, Van Alstyne police officers answered 25 incident calls, and dispatch took 901 calls for various types of service, reported Chief Tim Barnes.

Arrest — About 7:45 p.m. on Feb. 24, dispatch received a call of a reckless driver. Police located and stopped the described vehicle in the 900 block of South Van Alstyne Parkway. After determining that the driver, a 29-year-old man, was intoxicated, police jailed him on charge of driving while intoxicated, 3rd or more offense. He posted bail of $30,000 in surety bonds the next day. There are special conditions placed on the surety bond for his release.

Jailed was a 41-year-old Van Alstyne man on a charge of aggravated assault with deadly weapon, on which he $50,000 bail in surety bonds for his release two days later. The report on the other, a 26-year-old male suspect, will be forwarded to the Grayson County District Attorney’s Office for consideration of charges, Barnes said.
