At a special called meeting on Tuesday night, the Van Alstyne City Council, after opening in open session with the prayer and pledges of allegiance, went straight into executive session to discuss only one item — the possibility of acquiring some land to be used “for municipal facilities,” according to the posted agenda.
When they entered again into open meeting, Council member Suzon Crowell made a motion to authorize Mayor Pro Tem Teddie Ann Salmon to negotiate with the property owner for the property under discussion. That motion passed 4-1, with only Council member, Brad Clough, casting a ‘nay’ vote. Because the work was done in closed session, more information cannot yet be made available, Clough and Council member Robert Jaska both said.
When it is timely, the item could appear on a future agenda.
