In spite of the threat of rain Tuesday evening, the Van Alstyne Community Center, parking lots, and fire station were all packed with displays and organizations giving away health and safety items. It was National Night Out, a crime-prevention program and brings the local police officers together with the public, especially with the younger generation. Here, Van Alstyne Police Officer Colton Raper drives the popular kids train, pulling away with excited children. More on this celebration in next week’s Van Alstyne Leader.
