Howe Police are investigating a shooting that occurred on U.S. Highway 75 South Thursday evening. At around 6:35 p.m. Howe officers were called out to a shooting on Hwy 75 near Hall Cemetery Road. Upon arriving at the scene, officers found a 21-year-old male out of Houston had sustained a gun-shot wound, a news release from the Howe Police Department stated.
There were two other individuals in the vehicle. However, it appeared the gun shots came from outside of the vehicle while it was traveling South on Hwy 75, authorities said.
The gun shot victim was transported to Wilson N. Jones Regional Medical Center, where he died from his injuries, Howe Police reported.
This case introduced Howe Police Chief Matt Whitworth to his first day as police chief. Whitworth said the case is still early in the investigation.
“At this time, we’re in the beginning stages, and it’s likely to be tomorrow before we give any more information on it,” Whitworth said.
The Texas Rangers were called in to assist with the case, and it is still under investigation.
