A wreck outside of Howe sent two people to the hospital after the driver reportedly fell asleep behind the wheel Monday morning.
A 2005 Toyota van with two occupants was traveling westbound on Knob Hill Road south of Howe. Department of Public Safety Staff Sgt. Mark Tackett said in a news release that troopers were called to investigate at about 5:45 a.m. after the single-vehicle crash was reported.
The driver, 61-year-old Carolyn Pinkston of Sherman, fell asleep at the wheel and the vehicle veered off the roadway. The car then struck a tree, and both the driver and passenger were injured.
The passenger, 40-year-old Joshua Clark, was transported by helicopter to Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital in Plano, and Tackett said his injures were not life threatening. Pinkston was transported to Wilson N. Jones Regional Medical Center for treatment.
