GUNTER — John Wayne Thomison, 69, of Gunter, died April 5 at Texoma Medical Center in Denison. He was born October 8, 1948 in Dodd City, the son of William Thomison and Dovie Lee Adams Thomison.


John Wayne was not only a loving father, but also a loving grandfather. He enjoyed spending time with his kids and grandkids. He was always cracking jokes and making everyone laugh. He loved to work out in the yard.


John Wayne Thomison is survived by his loving wife Martha Thomison of Gunter; sisters Ann Hinkle of Garland, Peggy Smith of Garland; and Caroline Winkles and husband, Bryan of Sherman; sons Hollis Daniel and wife, Lorrie of Tioga; Clinton Daniel and wife, Janet of Tom Bean; and Stephen Thomison; daughters Joyce Little and husband, Roger of Howe; Shirley Arrington and husband, Tim of Gunter; and Jenny Thomison; grandchildren, Amanda Schindler, Joshua Little and wife, Miranda, Justin Little, Clinton Daniel Jr. and wife, Laura, Timothy Arrington and wife, Janica, Heather Cannon, Amber Arrington, Tarah Arrington, Britney Elias, Brandon Moreland, Preston Moreland, and Landys Moreland; and great-grandchildren, Landon Daniel, Bailey Daniel, Trenton Ramsey, and Isley Little. He was preceded in death by his parents, James William Thomison and Dovie Lee Adams Thomison; brother James Thomison; and sisters Betty Thomison and Ruth Collins.


Funeral services were held at 6 p.m. April 8 at the Scoggins Funeral Home Chapel in Van Alstyne. The family received friends from 5-6 p.m. April 8 prior to the service.
