FLOWER MOUND — Michael Lars Andersen died Monday, December 11, 2017.
He was born August 19, 1945 in Brooklyn, New York and raised in New Fairfield, Connecticut. He joined the Navy and sailed on the Shangri-La during the Vietnam war.
Mike moved to Texas in 1982 and married a Texas girl, Carol Holloway, and claimed Texas as his home. He retired from the Marriott Corporation in 2012, where he had worked as a chief engineer. He spent his retirement reconnecting with childhood friends, puttering around the house, working on computers and loving his family.
Mike is survived by his wife Carol of thirty years; beloved dogs, Ruby Lee and Sammy; cats, Tail and No Tail; son Michael Alan Andersen of Daytona Beach, Florida; brothers Danny, Glenn, and Alan, and his baby sister Margaret. He is also survived by brothers-in-law and and sisters-in-law Janie and Glenn Smith, Tony Quinn, and Martha Holloway; beloved nieces Amy McAlister and Sara Smith; nephews Stephen Andersen, Kristian Andersen, Dale Smith, and Shannon Holloway; great nephews Ashton Smith and Quinn Holloway; and great niece, Jasmine McAlister.
Michael was a generous sweet quiet man who never had a bad word to say about anyone. He will be missed by all who knew him.
A graveside service with military honors was held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, December 15 at Holloway Cemetery. The family met at 12 noon to eat lunch before the service at Buck Snort BBQ in Van Alstyne.
