Anna’s newest business — a brand new Wal-Mart on the corner of Highway 75 and FM 455 — has announced a tentative date for its grand opening. Wal-Mart Store Manager Kevin Crawford told the Tribune the tentative opening date has been set for April 26.

“That is the date, unless we have a setback,” Crawford said.

The Grand Opening should be a big event with a full day of celebrating, Crawford said. The Anna High School band will perform at the opening, along with the Anna High School cheerleaders. There will be several vendors with snacks and food to give out to the customers. For the guests seeking a thrill, there will be a mechanical bull available.

Also in the works is possibly karaoke and a monster truck. A no-kill pet rescue will be onsite with pets waiting to be adopted to loving homes.

On April 24, Wal-Mart will host a VIP night for the Chamber members and the associates and their families.

Crawford said he loves the encouragement that he and the store received.

“I’m so humbled at the support of city leadership and our neighbors in helping us prepare this store,” he said. “The staff is ready to show our city the hard work we have been doing.”

Crawford said he is very pleased with his team.

“In my 22 years working at Wal-Mart, this is the best group of associates I have been involved with,” he said.
